Adapting therapeutic approaches for neurodivergent clients

Live webinar presented by Caroline Burrows and Anna Clarke

Webinar overview

This advanced, skills-focused webinar brings together Caroline Burrows and Anna Clarke to explore the intersections between neurodivergence and parts work. Drawing on our experience in trauma therapy, EMDR, and neurodiversity-affirming practice, we’ll look at why standard parts models don’t always resonate, and how we can adapt our approaches in thoughtful, flexible ways.

We’ll reflect on why some clients – including those who are autistic, ADHD, or experience alexithymia, aphantasia, hyperphantasia, interoceptive or executive functioning differences – may find traditional parts interventions hard to engage with. Together, we’ll explore affirming ways to shift your approach, with space to consider evolving understandings of identity, dissociation, and plurality.

Whether you’re working within EMDR therapy, schema therapy, or another modality, this is a reflective and practical session for therapists looking to support neurodivergent clients in a way that feels authentic and inclusive.

Why attend this webinar?

If you've ever found that parts work feels clunky or inaccessible for some of your neurodivergent clients, you're not alone. This webinar is designed to offer fresh perspectives and clinically useful ideas for adapting your approach while remaining client-centred and affirming.

You'll leave with practical strategies to adjust your language, expectations, and interventions, and a greater understanding of how neurodivergent experiences shape how clients engage with internal parts.

What you’ll learn

  • Why traditional parts work models can fall flat with neurodivergent clients – and how to adapt them

  • Practical strategies for working with:
