Caroline & Associates

Accredited EMDR Trainer & Consultant

Caroline Burrows

I am an Accredited EMDR Trainer and Consultant, Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, and Psychotherapist. I have 20 years of experience across community, hospital, medical, and university settings. I currently provide innovative EMDR training and consultation and clinical supervision to mental health professionals across Australia and abroad. I am also the Owner and Director of Mindful Living Counselling and Psychology a clinic in Melbourne where I lead a team of highly skilled and passionate EMDR therapists. As the EMDR Coordinator at The Melbourne Clinic and The Victoria Clinic, I developed the first inpatient hospital EMDR programs in Victoria.

EMDR therapy is a transformative therapeutic modality and the results it achieves are truly life changing. I am told that I have an infectious enthusiasm for EMDR therapy! I love my work. It is so inspiring to encourage, motivate and mentor therapists as they embrace the opportunities that EMDR therapy brings.

As a proud late-diagnosed ADHDer, I’m passionate about creating inclusive, neurodiverse-affirming learning environments. In my role as a trainer, I aim to model authenticity and inclusivity – sharing my own journey with ADHD from the outset, fidget toy in hand and quirky humour on display!

Outside of work, I am an animal lover. Besotted, you may say. My favourite things to do are to spend time with my beloved dog Willow, have a good laugh and share meals with my wonderful friends and family. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you’ll discover I also have a fondness for flamingos.

Kate Formston

Accredited EMDR Consultant

Kate is an Accredited EMDR Consultant, Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, and Psychotherapist. She has two decades of experience supporting individuals affected by trauma and other mental health challenges.

Kate is an integral part of my team and provides individual and group EMDR consultation to therapists at all stages of their learning. She regularly assists with practicums during my EMDR training workshops and co-facilitates the EMDR Practice Lab, a supportive and experiential space designed to help therapists develop practical confidence in using EMDR therapy.

Kate and I have worked together across four different organisations over the past 15 years, and she has long been a valued colleague in both clinical and training contexts. She brings a down-to-earth and caring presence to her work with both clients and clinicians, and is committed to helping therapists use EMDR therapy in a way that feels integrated, purposeful, and authentic to their own therapeutic style.

Her clinical background includes roles in a sexual assault counselling service, an inpatient EMDR hospital program, and private practice. She has completed extensive advanced training in EMDR therapy and is highly experienced in working with complex trauma, attachment wounding, and dissociative disorders. Kate draws on a range of therapeutic approaches including schema therapy, ego state therapy, internal family systems, and polyvagal theory to inform her EMDR case formulation and interventions. She also has experience delivering EMDR therapy in both intensive and group-based formats.

Kate currently works in the EMDR Intensive Program at Mindful Living Counselling and Psychology, providing focused trauma treatment to clients seeking a more structured and time-efficient therapy option.

Outside of work, Kate enjoys martial arts, personal fitness, spending time outdoors, and connecting with family and friends.

Madeleine brings warmth, enthusiasm, and a neurodiverse-affirming lens to her work with therapists.
