EMDR Part 1 Training

Overview of EMDR Part 1 training

Caroline’s Part 1 training curriculum is accredited by the EMDR Association of Australia. It is delivered over a 3-day live workshop, with 3 hours of pre-workshop material completed prior to the live workshop. Topics include:

  • Development of EMDR Therapy from its beginnings to the present day

  • Theoretical underpinnings of EMDR Therapy in the context of information processing models and trauma neurobiology

  • Learning, observing, and practicing the 8 phases of EMDR Therapy

  • Skills in preparing emotionally vulnerable clients for trauma reprocessing and confidently navigating common hurdles that arise in EMDR Therapy.

A mix of theory and practice

Part 1 EMDR training is highly experiential, with a combination of didactic teaching, discussion, small group exercises and practicums. A large component of the training is spent practicing EMDR skills in small groups, under close supervision from Caroline and other Accredited EMDR Consultants. You will receive supportive feedback in a safe and encouraging learning environment where there is no such thing as a ‘silly question’!

You will come away from the Part 1 training feeling motivated, skilled, and immediately ready to use EMDR Therapy with your clients. You will receive a detailed EMDR training manual and ongoing access to an extensive collection of electronic EMDR Therapy resources.

Upon completion of Part 1 training, you will be eligible for Associate Membership of the EMDR Association of Australia.
